About the CHA

With roots dating back to 1964, the Church Hill Association (CHA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to help Church Hill thrive and grow thoughtfully — guiding local progress, respecting our shared history, and fostering connection among all who live, work, or visit here.

Purpose

Our purpose is to build community through education, events, and neighborhood improvements, while supporting historic preservation, the arts, wellbeing, and shared public spaces.

Vision

Our vision for Church Hill is a vibrant, thriving, inclusive neighborhood where all feel welcome and empowered to celebrate the people, stories, and history that make the greater Church Hill area special — while shaping a future we build together.

Community

We believe a connected neighborhood makes everyday life better! It’s knowing your neighbors, feeling informed about what’s happening down the street, and having parks, events, and gathering spaces that bring people together. CHA helps make that happen: we host key community events throughout the year, offer grants to local orgs doing good in our community, and keep neighbors informed via social media, our email newsletter, and our physical newsletter. We also support the places and organizations that make this neighborhood special. From our amazing parks to our many schools, celebrated local businesses, and East End nonprofits, we invest in the people and spaces that strengthen our community.

Why should I become a member of the CHA?

Becoming a member is one of the simplest ways to support the neighborhood you love. Your membership helps fund community events, park improvements, youth initiatives, preservation advocacy, and local grants, and it strengthens our collective voice when we engage with the City.

Membership also gives you a seat at the table! You can vote in meetings, join committees, help shape neighborhood priorities, and connect with neighbors who care about Church Hill as much as you do.

Who can be a member of the CHA?

Folks often ask if there are geographical boundaries for the Church Hill Association — we don’t see our neighborhood as one with defined borders. If you live, work, play on the Hill, or simply love the area, you’re welcome here. Residents, renters, homeowners, business owners, and supporters alike are invited to join.

Whether you become a member or not, we encourage you to attend meetings and events and get involved in ways that feel meaningful to you.

Meetings

We meet on the third Tuesday of most months at 6:30 PM. There’s usually a “social half hour” starting at 6:30 PM with snacks and drinks, with the actual meeting beginning at 7:00 PM. You can always check our Calendar to find out meetings and locations. You don’t have to be a member to attend a membership meeting - all are welcome!
