Welcome to Church Hill

A historic neighborhood featuring period architecture, celebrated restaurants and bakeries, and a warm and welcoming community.

Historic Church Hill

Church Hill is one of Richmond’s oldest and most storied neighborhoods. It’s said that in 1737, the view from Libby Hill Park reminded William Byrd II of his home on the Thames, Richmond Hill—giving our capital city its name. Today, that same view continues to inspire, reflecting the rich history and vibrant culture that make Church Hill truly unique.

From charming historic homes and iconic landmarks to a world-class food scene, Church Hill offers an experience like no other. We’re just moments away from downtown Richmond and the scenic Capital Trail—whether you prefer to walk, bike, drive, or hop on public transit.

The Church Hill Association (CHA) is an active group with a mission to preserve our history and create our community’s future. If you’re visiting Richmond, we hope you make Church Hill a destination. If you live in the area, we would love to get to know you!
